An alternative to a nativity was the intention for a local infant school.
Year Twos from College Park Infant school decided to present the Grinch that stole Christmas as this year’s performance.
The Grinch is a children’s story by Dr. Seuss and is written in rhymed verse with illustrations by the author.
It follows the Grinch, a grouchy, solitary creature who attempts to put an end to Christmas by stealing Christmas-themed items from the homes of the nearby town Whoville on Christmas Eve.
.
Taylor aged 6 3/4 ( I will send this over soon ) who played the Grinch said he was very nervous at first but after doing the performances he said: ‘I enjoyed it very much and I liked being painted with green face paint too.’
During the show, Taylor said the infamous Grinch lines: ‘Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store, maybe Christmas, perhaps means a little bit more.’
Miss Emma Bannister a year two teacher and the organiser of the show said: ‘We like to further develop the performance skills and singing ability of our children. We have high expectations and as such the children rise to them each year.’
‘We try to give the children a different experience in year two as year R and year one usually do a nativity play and by year two they work hard towards putting on a performance of a higher level.’
The teacher felt Grinch was a great alternative and was so much fun for all the children who took part she said they loved dressing up as the who’s characters and the sleepy who’s too.
